Best way to avoid these kind of situation is to not ‘follow’ everyone! Its just pointless as there is no way you can ‘really follow’ every single one of them..It just causes an information overload and makes this ‘useful service’ not so useful anymor If you are not www.chase.com following that person, he shouldn’t be able to send you a DM….Right? So if you follow people carefully, you can actually control how much ’spam’ you get.Following everyone is like ..giving away your home address to everyone you meet so that they can send you Junk.

One of the greatest strengths of Mac OS X, for developers in particular, is that it has a very elegant and consistent graphical user interface as well as thrift savings plan an excellent command line interface. I’m not going to cover the basics like “ls” and “cd”, but rather point out some Mac OS X specific tools that are less well known than they should be.

I have been a fan of dropbox for some time now, and I also have 1Password on my Mac - which is great! I always keep a html version of my 1Password database in my dropbox so I can use a browser to see my passwords. Now I am using KeePass on my windows XP machine and store my *kdb file in my dropbox. I use KeePassX on my Mac now and it opens the same kdb file so now my passwords are in sync! KeePassX doesn't have the functionality of 1Password, but it's free and I'm keeping all my passwords in one secure database. Since most of my passwords are windows-based apps - I think I'll drop the 1Password and use this method you describe here. Hopefully one day KeePassX will do auto-fill of usernames and passwords.
